Fiesta De Santa Fe
Burning of Zozobra, fireworks, Children’s Pet Parade, continuous entertainment, royalty, arts and crafts, religious ceremonies, Historical/Hysterical Parade, food, and dancing in the streets are all part of the Fiesta de Santa Fe.
Every September, the City Different comes alive for the Fiesta De Santa Fe, a commemorative celebration of the peaceful re-conquest of Santa Fe lead by Don Diego DeVargas and marking the end of the Pueblo Revolt in 1692. An extended weekend long event, the Fiesta De Santa Fe is the oldest community event in the U.S. The Fiesta De Santa Fe kicks off with the Burning of Zozobra, a 49-foot tall marionette that represents everyone’s troubles and glooms from the past year. With a clean slate and conscious, the city rejoices in style. Children and adults partake in the many activities throughout the weekend. From morning till night, Downtown Santa Fe is buzzing with life. The Fiesta De Santa Fe is a traditional event treasured by locals and guests of Santa Fe hotels.
All activities take place in downtown Santa Fe. The Santa Fe Plaza is host to the grandstand and main entertainment. However, the booths and food surround and extend three blocks in each direction.
