Santa Fe Local’s View – Santa Fe Creative Tourism Month
“When I say artist I mean the one who is building things … some with a brush – some with a shovel – some choose a pen.” ~Jackson Pollock
I am moved by Mr. Pollock’s quote because it makes me truly believe, that in some sense of the word, we can all be an artist. Although at times, when I am drawing my stick figures to represent people in the most artistic way, I feel far from being able to create such beauty that those seeing it are touched in some way and see something unique and worthy. You may feel this way, too or maybe you are able to express yourself in a way that feels to others that you have been the recipient of a gift that must be shared through various mediums. Either way, this month in Santa Fe, you can learn new ways to express yourself through many creative experiences.
What a wonderful way to be inspired but by participating with others who have a passion for learning and with the support of Santa Fe’s world-class artists and unique creative spirit. All fears of trying something new are abandoned by the tag line “No experience is necessary”. DIY Santa Fe has a large variety of choices that would peak anyone’s interest and we encourage you to see which experience is perfect for you. Whether it is having your family participate in “family clay play” at Baca Street Pottery, or taking an individual class in intuitive painting with Julie Claire on Upper Canyon Road, or grabbing your friend and maybe taking that cooking class with famed Deborah Madison at the Santa Fe School of Cooking to inspire your inner Chef, I believe that you will find something that breathes new life into your soul and creates memories for a life time. I can tell you that I’m leaning toward a night with the Chef, but who knows what the month might bring.
We would like to let you know that we are offering a 20% discount for Santa Fe Creative attendees for accommodations at the Inn of the Governors. Please call us at 800-234-4534 and ask for the discount when booking. We hope that you come, explore something new and share your experience with us. Safe travels, Deb Swanson
